HIV

How is it transmitted?

HIV can be transmitted from an infected person to another through:

  • Blood (including menstrual blood)
  •  Semen 
  • Vaginal secretions
  •  Breast milk (from mother to child)

Blood contains the highest concentration of the virus, followed by semen, followed by vaginal fluids, followed by breast milk

HEP-C

How is it transmitted?

Hepatitis C (HCV) is caused by a virus found in the blood. Although some information about how this is passed from person to person is not clear, it is very clear that it is transmitted through blood to blood contact, such as sharing needles (to inject drugs, or for tattoos, ear piercings, etc). Most people do not realize they have Hep-C .

Syphills

How is it transmitted?

Syphilis is transmitted from person to person by direct contact with a syphilitic sore, known as a chancre. Chancres can occur on or around the external genitals, in the vagina, around the anus , or in the rectum, or in or around the mouth. Transmission of syphilis can occur during vaginal, anal, or oral sex (CDC)
