Corrections Project Manager

Job Description
The Corrections Project Manager with Maui AIDS Foundation (MAF) is responsible for managing and facilitating educational classes on HIV, Hepatitis C (HCV) and other relevant Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) at Maui Community Correctional Center and performing rapid HIV/HCV testing/ results for inmates. Must be able to pay attention to detail while conducting tests to ensure complete test accuracy. This position is also responsible for providing information about test results, diagnosis, insurance and treatment. Database entry and maintenance of files/records are also required.

· Provide harm-reduction based HCV, HIV and STI education, counseling, testing, and referrals to correctional inmates at Maui Community Correctional Center (MCCC) within the context of the agency’s prevention program and correctional facilities policies.
· Coordinate program with MCCC.
· Document and report all program activities while maintaining confidentiality of all records.
· Participate in program evaluation and the ongoing development.
· Attend weekly staff supervision and team meetings.
· Perform data entry.
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
· Certified HIV and HCV Tester (Training available/ provided by MAF/HRSB)
· Basic knowledge of HCV, HIV and STI’s.
· Previous experience in providing STI prevention education with an emphasis on HCV and HIV.
· Ability to work with various ethnic, criminal and socioeconomic backgrounds regarding issues of sexuality, Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in a culturally sensitive, non-judgmental and appropriate manner.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and appropriately both verbally and in writing.
· Effective public speaker
· Current knowledge (or the willingness to learn current knowledge) of HCV, HIV and STI’s and the ability to deliver complex information about sexual and/or medical issues to individuals and groups with varied educational levels and backgrounds.
· Computer literacy for Microsoft Office in addition to other computer skills.
· Ability to (or willingness to learn to) facilitate HCV and HIV risk-reduction education in correctional facility setting.
· Ability to conduct rapid test individuals for HIV in accordance with Hawaii Harm Reduction Service Branch (HRSB) training and guidelines. (Training available)
· Organize and maintain detailed records and files.
· Availability to work flexible hours to accommodate program activities. (May require some weekend or evening hours). Hours are dependent on Correctional facility availability.
· Valid Driver’s License, own transportation, and proof of vehicle insurance.
· Valid TB clearance
· Traffic Abstract.
· Ability to lift 35 pounds, stand, bend and sit.
