HUI O ANUENUE (EMPOWER'D)

Empower’d is a LGBTQI and Allies youth group for those between the ages of 14-26. The goal of Empower’d is to create a safe, comfortable, fun and educational space for group members to develop self-empowerment and discovery through activities and discussions.

H.E.A.R.T.S HAWAII'S EMPOWERED ALLIANCE REACHING TRANSGENDER SERVICES

HEARTS is a peer lead supportive group for Mahu Wahine, Mahu Kane, Transgender MTF, Transgender FTM, Gender Non-Conforming, Non-Binary and their supportive ally’s. The HEARTS program aims to create a safe environment here at the Maui AIDS Foundation. Here is some of what the HEARTS program entails:

• Linkage to HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) with Maui County Medical Providers
• Linkage to Medical Insurance if non-insured
• Linkage to Transgender Behavioral Health Specialist
• Transgender Sensitivity Training for medical establishments, schools and any organization or corporation needing education and resources.
• Guidance for legal Name Change & Gender Marker Changes
• Group Level Interventions and Individual Level Intervention
• Supportive assistance and guidance with family, friends and partners

P4P

P4P is a social group created to provide a safe and confidential social setting for people that are HIV+. Due to confidentiality, there is a screening process to participate in this program.

PREP PROGRAM ASSISTANCE

MAF’s PrEP Clinic connects HIV-negative individuals to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), a once-daily pill approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that is more than 90 percent effective in preventing HIV transmission. The PrEP Clinic’s on-staff medical provider can prescribe PrEP, monitor labs, and offer assistance navigating through insurance issues. The Clinic also provides education about PrEP to local health providers and the Maui County community at large.

THE CORRECTIONS PROJECT

MAF provides provides HIV/Hepatitis-C (HCV) education and testing for the inmates at Maui Community Correctional Center (MCCC). Linkage to care for HIV and HCV is also provided upon release, as well as regular screening/testing for HIV/HCV/STIʻs.  If you have been recently incarcerated, please get in touch with us because we can help you!

COUNSELING, TESTING AND REFERRALS

MAF provides free confidential counseling and testing for HIV, HCV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia, Monday through Friday, and evening hours on Wednesdays. MAF also provides Saturday testing a few times a month. We also advocate for our clients sexual health by helping them to navigate through community resources. Our free testing services are also available in Lahaina at the Comprehensive Health Center on specific days/times. Call for more information. Our testing services may also link you to MAF’s clinic for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis testing and treatment.
